ABOUT GYAT DAMN
What this is
gyatdamn.com is an internet-culture playground: a soundboard with 20 original sounds, a meme lab that captions and exports memes in your browser, a library documenting the lore behind every sound, and a blog about the audio side of meme culture. Everything works without an account, an app, or an install — open the page, press the buttons, annoy someone you love.
The one rule we built everything around
Every sound on this site is 100% original synthesized audio — generated from raw waveforms by our own code, not ripped from movies, songs, games, or anyone's stream. Same for the meme templates, which are drawn programmatically rather than lifted from stock photos. This started as a legal decision (most famous meme clips are copyrighted, and platforms enforce that with fingerprinting bots) and turned into the soul of the project: we get to design the sounds, document the recipes, and hand you files that are clean to use in your own videos and streams. The full story is in why we synthesized every sound from scratch.
Who makes it
GYAT DAMN is a small independent project — no media company, no growth team, just an internet resident who thinks meme sounds deserve both a good soundboard and actual documentation, plus an increasingly stressed laptop that renders all the audio. We write everything on the site ourselves: the sound lore, the blog, the unhinged button labels. If something is wrong, tell us and a real person will read it.
How the site pays rent
Full transparency, because we would want it too:
- Ads. The site shows display ads. That's the main way free stays free.
- Premium vault ($1.99, one time). Four extended, extra-loud sounds plus everything premium we add later. Not a subscription.
- HD meme export ($0.99, one time). Removes the watermark and doubles the export resolution. Also not a subscription.
- The email list. New sounds and posts, roughly weekly, unsubscribe anytime. We never sell addresses.
That's the entire business model. No accounts harvesting your data, no dark patterns, no "free trial" that bills you in your sleep. The details live in our terms and privacy policy, which we wrote to be readable by humans.
The roadmap, loosely
More sounds (the synthesis engine is warmed up), more meme templates, and more writing about the weird audio history of the internet. If there's a sound archetype you want built or a topic you want covered, yell at us — several things on the board exist because someone asked.
