WHAT IT IS

A deep, room-shaking cinematic boom with a long echo tail. It's the sound of a statement landing so hard the video itself needs a beat to recover.

THE LORE

Vine — the six-second video app that ran from 2013 until Twitter shut it down in January 2017 — compressed comedy into loops so short that editing became the punchline. The bass boom emerged there as the definitive way to underline a beat: zoom in, boom, loop. When Vine died, its editing grammar migrated wholesale to TikTok and YouTube, and the boom came with it.

Today the boom is arguably the most-used comedic sting on the internet — the audio equivalent of a bolded word. Our version is an original synthesis of that cinematic-thud archetype, tuned to loop cleanly and hit hard even on laptop speakers.

WHEN TO DEPLOY IT

• Underlining a punchline in an edit — one boom per beat, never two.

HOW WE BUILT IT

The body is a sine wave falling from 68 Hz to 36 Hz over 1.25 seconds — deeper than our 808s, which is what makes it cinematic rather than musical — driven hard (tanh saturation at 2.6×) so the harmonics carry on small speakers. A 90 ms burst of low-passed noise supplies the initial punch, and a 160 ms delay with 40% feedback builds the long, hall-like tail the archetype demands.
