As it spread across TikTok through 2023–2024, the stakes diluted and the theater grew: “crashout” became the standard word for any public loss of composure, from genuine spirals to comic overreactions, and “certified crashout” became an affectionate diagnosis for the friend with a low fuse. The word kept its original shape — consequences ignored, composure gone — while the internet adjusted the severity dial to taste.
